Bobby Fischer, 1967 yılında Tunus'taki Uluslararası Sousse turnuvasını terk etmişti. Sebebiyse turnuva organizatörlerinin oyunlarının tarihlerini yeniden düzenlememesiydi. Fischer Kutsal Sebt (Şabat = Musevilerde kutsal dinlenme günü) günü oynamayacaktı. Bu dönemin sona ermesiyle Fischer turnuvaya geri döndü ve sonuçta da turnuvayı terk etmesine rağmen 8.5/10 (=3, +7) puan topladı.
